You Comment, I Follow!

commentfollow You Comment, I Follow!

Hi Everyone,
I have decided to turn on some new functionality on my site. From now on if you leave a comment on my blog (permitting you have left a total of more than 3 comments) the nofollow attribute will be removed.

For most people this will not mean a thing however for my fellow bloggers that leave comments on my blog it means that you will receive credit on Google for comments that you leave pointing to your site.

The way this works is that Google calculates the Pagerank of a site based on how many other sites link back to them. By default, to stop spam most blogs now have a feature called nofollow turned on. This stops Google from recognising the link and counting it towards the pagerank calculation. Now by turning this functionality on, after you leave a minimum of 3 comments, each comment you leave will be counted towards the Google Pagerank.

We will see how this feature goes however I hope it just gives you all one more reason to comment on my blog in future.

Stuart

For those more technically inclined, thanks go out to the Nofollow-Free-Plugin for Wordpress
